Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, the all-new mid-size SUV from the Japanese automaker, is all set to go on sale in India on 16th August, 2022. Here, it will be positioned against the Hyundai Creta that’s currently ruling the segment. The new Toyota SUV will also take on the Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, MG Astor and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
Bookings for the Toyota Hyryder have already been commenced at an initial sum of Rs 25,000. It will be the first offering co-developed under Toyota and Maruti Suzuki partnership.
The carmaker has confirmed that the Urban Cruiser Hyryder will be offered in four trims – E, S, G and V. The top three variants will be available with strong hybrid powertrain, while rest will come with mild hybrid setup. The strong hybrid tech includes a 115bhp, 1.5L TNGA Atkinson Cycle petrol motor and a 177.6V lithium-ion battery with Toyota’s e-drive transmission. Touted as Neo Drive, the mild hybrid powertrain has Maruti Suzuki’s 1.5L K15C petrol engine with Integrated Starter Generator (ISG). It can be had with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox.
Features such as leatherette seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 360 degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, Arkamys surround sound system, hill descent control, tyre pressure monitoring system, drive modes and roof rails are reserved for the top-end V trim.
The SUV also comes with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Head-Up Display, wireless charging, ambient interior lighting, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, connected car tech, cruise control, ABS with EBD, hill hold control, rear parking sensors and many more goodies.
Toyota has confirmed that it will offer a 3 year/1,00,000km warranty on the Urban Cruiser Hyryder that can be extended to 5 years/2,20,000km. There will also be an 8 year/1,60,000km warranty on the hybrid batteries. The new Toyota Hyryder will be available in 7 monotone and 4 dual-tone colour schemes.
