The Royal Enfield Shotgun 650, one of the highly anticipated upcoming offerings from the Chennai-based motorcycle manufacturer, is almost ready to hit the roads. However, before its official launch, a leaked scan of its Type approval certificate has provided some intriguing insights. The new Royal Enfield 650cc bike measures 2170mm in length, 820mm in width (835mm as an option), and stands at 1105mm in height. When compared to the RE Super Meteor 650, the upcoming Shotgun 650 will be more compact in terms of dimensions. Nevertheless, it is expected to have a higher seat height than its 650cc sibling. Its wheelbase spans 1,465mm, and it carries a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 428kg. Read: Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Specs Out; Launch Within Days
Design and Features:
The design and styling of the new Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 are reminiscent of the Super Meteor 650, as they share several design elements. The upcoming model is likely to feature a retro-styled round headlamp with chrome accents, round rearview mirrors, a taillamp with integrated turn indicators, blacked-out engine casing, a split-seat setup, and a single exhaust. It will come equipped with a semi-digital instrument console and a tripper turn-by-turn navigation system.
Powering the RE Shotgun 650 is the same 647.95cc air/oil-cooled parallel-twin engine found in the RE Super Meteor 650. This motor produces a peak power of 47.65PS and a torque of 52Nm. Notably, it will be the first Royal Enfield bike to feature an inverted fork suspension at the front, complemented by twin shock absorbers at the rear. Braking duties will be handled by ByBre front and rear brakes, assisted by a dual-channel ABS system.
Expected Launch and Pricing:
The new Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 is expected to make its public debut towards the end of this year, followed by its market launch. As for pricing, the bike is likely to come with a premium tag, with the entry-level variant expected to be priced around Rs 3.25 lakh.
