Maruti Suzuki has some really big plans for the Indian market. In the next couple of years, the Indo-Japanese is planning to expand its SUV portfolio with a range of new models along with the multiple new-generation and facelift versions of the existing products. Here’s a complete list of the upcoming Maruti cars in India in 2022 and 2023.

Upcoming Maruti Cars In 2022, 2023

1. Maruti Swift CNG

Maruti Suzuki is testing the CNG version of the Swift hatchback. The company has already launched the new Dzire CNG, which comes with a 1.2L petrol engine with a factory-fitted CNG kit. The new model won’t receive any design changes, except for the CNG badging on the tailgate. It will be powered by the same 1.2L petrol engine + CNG kit. This engine produces 76.43bhp and 98Nm of torque. The Dzire CNG is claimed to return over 31km/kg, and the same is expected with the new Swift CNG.

2. New-Gen Maruti Suzuki Brezza

Maruti Suzuki’s popular sub-4 meter SUV – Vitara Brezza – will enter into its second generation in the mid-2022. The new model is most likely to retain the existing Global C platform. Not just platform, the SUV will retain the overall profile, body and door panels. Major changes will be made inside the cabin, as it will have all-new dashboard, bigger touchscreen infotainment system and new instrument console.

It will be equipped with high-end features such as wireless connectivity, e-SIM based connected car tech, wireless charger, sunroof, cruise control & many. The SUV will also offer 6 airbags and reverse camera. It will be powered by a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine with a 48V mild hybrid system. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic.

3. New-Gen Maruti Suzuki Alto 800

The new-generation Alto 800 will be one of the upcoming Maruti cars, which are slated to launch this year (2022). Similar to the all-new Celerio, the 2022 Maruti Alto 800 is likely to be designed on Suzuki’s new Heartect platform. The new architecture is claimed to improve power-to-weight ratio, handling and NHV levels of the vehicle. Noticeable changes will be made to its exterior and interior. The hatchback might receive a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity. If offered, it could be reserved for the top-end trims. For power, the new Alto 800 will use the 796cc naturally aspirated petrol motor with manual and AMT gearboxes. It is also likely to get a 1.0-litre dualjet petrol engine that powers the new Celerio.

4. New Maruti Suzuki MPV

Suzuki and Toyota joined hands to develop a range of new models for the Indian market. The next in our list of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki cars is among those jointly built vehicles – a new C-segment MPV. The model will be based on the FWD (front-wheel-drive) monocoque platform. It is likely to be offered with two petrol engines – one with a mild hybrid system and another with a stronger hybrid system. In the company’s product lineup, the new Maruti Suzuki MPV will sit above the Ertiga and lock horns against the Toyota Innova Crysta. It will be a Nexa exclusive product.

5. Maruti Suzuki Jimny

The Indo-Japanese carmaker will bring the 5-door Jimny in India by 2023. It’s surely one of the much-awaited upcoming Maruti cars in the country. The model (codenamed – YWD) will be offered with the 1.5L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with a mild hybrid system that’s good enough for 103bhp and 136Nm. All variants of the compact off-road SUV are likely to get 4WD (four-wheel-drive) system as standard. It can be had with either manual or automatic gearbox. Rumour has that the new Maruti Suzuki Jimny might be re-branded as new-generation Maruti Gypsy. It will be sold via the brand’s premium Nexa dealerships. The 5-door Jimny is likely to be based on the Jimny Sierra that made its debut at the 2020 Auto Expo.

6. Maruti Mid-Size SUV

The next in our list of upcoming Maruti Suzuki cars is a mid-size SUV that will be designed and developed jointly with Toyota. Toyota Bidadi based plant in Karnataka will serve as production hub for the new Maruti SUV. It will go face challenge from cars Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, VW Taigun and the Skoda Kushaq. It will measure around 4.3 meters in length, and sit on Toyota’s DNGA platform. The DNGA architecture has been designed for small cars that pursues fuel efficiency, affordable pricing and safety. The new model will come with two petrol engines – a 1.5L NA with a mild-hybrid system and a 1.5L NA with a stronger hybrid system. It’s reported to arrive during festive season, before Diwali.

7. New Maruti Coupe SUV

The Indo-Japanese carmaker is working on a compact crossover that will sit below the Vitara Brezza in the company’s prodThe Indo-Japanese carmaker is working on a compact Coupe SUV that will sit above the Brezza in the company’s product lineup. It will be based on the HEARTECT platform and is likely to be the production version of the Futuro-e concept. The company had showcased the Futuro-e concept at the 2020 Auto Expo. It will rival against the higher variants of the Hyundai Venue and the Kia Sonet. The new Coupe SUV will be powered by a stronger hybrid system.

8. Maruti C-Segment SUV

The Indo-Japanese automaker is preparing a new 7-seater SUV, which will be positioned against the likes of the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari and the Mahindra XUV700. It is expected to come as a replacement for the Suzuki XL6 and will be sold through NEXA premium dealerships. The new SUV could be the 7-seater version of the upcoming mid-sized SUV.

9. Maruti Electric SUV

Maruti Suzuki and Toyota will jointly launch a new electric vehicle in the Indian market by 2025. If report are to be believed, Maruti Suzuki’s first EV will be a mid-sized SUV and will measure around 4.2 meters in length. The Suzuki-Toyota JV is developing a different derivative of the 40PL platform, which is codenamed 27PL. The platform will be used to develop a wide range of family EVs starting from compact cars, MPVs or SUVs. The first mid-sized electric SUV will be based on the 27PL. The electric vehicle will source the battery pack from TDSG, a large-scale battery manufacturing JV between Suzuki, Denso and Toshiba.

10. Maruti Baleno CNG

Next in our list of upcoming Maruti cars is the CNG version of the new Baleno hatchback. The company has already launched the ICE version of the new Baleno. It will share all the features that are accessible in the regular model.  It will be powered by the 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine with marginal drop in power and torque output. The CNG variant is expected to return an efficiency of 25km/kg. The CNG kit will be offered on multiple variants to target wider set of buyers.
