Under the hood, the upcoming Maruti Celerio CNG will employ the same 1.0L, 3-cylinder Dualjet petrol engine that will be coupled to a factory-fitted CNG kit. One must note that the power and torque figures of the CNG variant could be slightly different. The existing gasoline unit returns a claimed power of 66bhp and a maximum torque of 89Nm. For performing transmission duties, the hatchback will have a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The hatchback model lineup is currently available in four trims – LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi+. The CNG kit could be offered on select variants. No changes will be made to its design and features. Similar to the regular petrol-powered model, the Celerio CNG will offer a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, steering mounted controls, a height adjustable driver seat, push start/stop button, rear parking sensors and 15-inch alloy wheels.
Prices of the new Maruti Celerio CNG will be announced in a couple of weeks. Its petrol-powered model is available within the price range of Rs 4.99 lakh – Rs 6.49 lakh. There are three automatic variants – VXi AMT, ZXi AMT and ZXi+ AMT – priced at Rs 6.13 lakh, Rs 6.44 lakh and Rs 6.94 lakh respectively. All aforementioned prices are ex-showroom. Once launched, the hatchback’s CNG version will take directly on the upcoming Tata Tiago CNG.
