The South Korean automaker is ready to enter into the three-row MPV or SUV segment with the Kia KY (codename). The model will make its world debut on December 16, 2021 and its launch will happen in early 2022. Its final production version is likely to be named Kia Carens as the company recently trademarked the same nameplate in the country. The upcoming Kia three-row MPV will be offered with both 6 and 7-seats layout.
Recently, the fresh interior details of the Kia KY were emerged on the web. The compact MPV will get a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and Kia’s UVO connected car technology. The info unit will have new, advanced software that’s currently offered on Kia’s new breed cars. The Kia Carens might also be the first vehicle in its category to offer one-touch electric folding seats to access the third row seats.
The list of feature will also include one-touch cruise control, ventilated front seats (for both driver and passenger), a Bose audio system and rain sensing wipers. The new Kia MPV will be the first car in India to offer 6 USB-C charging ports – 2 in front center, 2 in mid row center and 2 on third row. The ambient lighting around the dashboard, centre console and front and rear door inserts will further enhance its interior feel and appeal. The rear doors will also have illumination. All variants of the new Kia Carens will get a digital instrument cluster as standard feature. The MPV will offer touch style controls placed side and below the touchscreen including climate control, infotainment controls and one-touch on/off cruise control. For hill decent control, it has a dedicated control button. There will be lots of cup holders, storage compartments and under seat storage (for both front seats). While the leather seat upholstery will be reserved for the higher trims, the lower and mid-spec variants will have fabric seats. The new Kia KY will offer a single pane sunroof.
