7-Seater Jeep Meridian SUV Launch By June 2022

American SUV maker, Jeep is preparing to launch 3 new models in the Indian market this year. The company will introduce the Compass Trailhawk facelift in the month of February 2022. A new report claims that the company will launch the long-awaited 7-seater Jeep Meridian SUV by June this year. Moreover, the company will also start local assembling of the Grand Cherokee.

It is basically the re-badged version of the Commander SUV, which was introduced in Brazil last year. Based on the Compass platform, the Jeep Meridian is a 3-row SUV to be offered in 6-and 7-seat layouts. The six-seater model will have captain seats in the second-row.

Jeep Commander Specs

Previous reports suggest that the production of the Jeep Meridian will commence at FCA’s Ranjangaon facility by April 2022. The production plant will also serve as the base for exporting the Meridian SUV to other RHD (Right-Hand-Drive) markets across the globe.

The SUV shares styling cues from the Compass and bigger Jeeps including the Grand Wagoneer and the Grand Cherokee. Dimensionally, the new SUV is 4,769mm long, 1,859mm wide and 1,682mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,794mm. The wheelbase has been increased by 158mm to accommodate a longer body. Compared to the Compass, the new Meridian is around 364mm longer, 41mm wider and 42mm taller.

Jeep Commander Sunroof

The new Jeep Meridian front looks identical to the Compass, featuring signature slat grille, and rectangular full LED headlamps. It gets a newly designed bumper, LED tail-lights, large faux vents with LED DRLs and fog lamps with a chrome strip running across the front.

The dashboard design seems identical to the Compass; however, it is more premium and offers better fit & finish. The SUV gets a 10.21-inch all-digital instrument console and a large 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The infotainment system will be compatible with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The upcoming Jeep Meridian 7-seater SUV will be powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, which is likely to get a 48V mild hybrid system. It is likely to produce around 200bhp of power, and will be paired to a 9-speed automatic gearbox with AWD system.
