Maruti Suzuki has planned several new models for the Indian market, which are slated to hit roads in the next couple of years. In 2022, the Indo-Japanese automaker will bring in new vehicles including 5 facelifts, 2 new-generation models (Vitara Brezza and Alto) and a mid-size SUV (Creta rival) developed under Suzuki and Toyota joint venture. Talking about facelifts, the company will give mid-life updates to the WagonR and Baleno hatchbacks, Ciaz sedan, Ertiga and XL6 MPVs. Here’s a brief on the upcoming Maruti Suzuki facelift models.
2022 Maruti XL6
The updated XL6 will be the first launch from the Indo-Japanese automaker in 2022. While its official launch date and details are yet to be announced, the model is reported to see a release in the month of January. The new Maruti XL6 facelift could be offered with 6 and 7-seats configurations along with a bunch of new features. A few cosmetic changes will also be made to the MPV. For power, it will use the same 103bhp, 1.5L petrol motor boosted with mild hybrid technology. Transmissions will also be carried over from the existing model.
2022 Maruti Ertiga
The new Maruti Ertiga facelift is currently in its initial testing phase and is reported to arrive sometime next year. On the exterior, it’s likely to receive a new grille and newly-designed alloy wheels. Inside, it might get new seat upholstery and trims. Under the hood, the new Ertiga will continue to feature the same 1.5L petrol engine with SHVS tech with the 5-speed manual and 4-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox options. The gasoline unit pushes out power worth 105bhp and 138Nm of torque.
2022 Maruti Baleno
The updated Baleno will come with the improved styling and a more feature-packed interior. Though, its engine setup will remain unchanged. The hatchback will source power from the 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine that can be had with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. The motor, with the 12V mild hybrid technology, delivers a peak power of 90bhp. The 2022 Maruti Baleno facelift is reported to be equipped with the new and bigger 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that might have wireless smartphone connectivity. Other key updates will include a newly-designed dashboard, a flat bottom steering, a new instrument cluster with a revised MID and new switchgear for the climate controls.
2022 Maruti Ciaz
The new Maruti Ciaz is likely to witness comprehensive changes inside and out. Though, its engine remains intact. The sedan will continue to use the 1.5L petrol motor with SHVS mild hybrid tech. Inside the cabin, it might receive a newly-designed dashboard, updated infotainment system and a bigger instrument cluster. A few cosmetic changes are expected to be made at its front and rear sections.
2022 Maruti WagonR
The WagonR hatchback is one of the top-selling Maruti Suzuki models in the country. The Indo-Japanese automaker is ready to give a mid-life update to the hatch sometime next year. Details of the new 2022 Maruti WagonR facelift are still under the wraps. Though, it’s likely to receive minimal cosmetic changes and feature upgrades. The hatchback might get an updated infotainment system and connected car technology. Powering the new WagonR will be the same 1.0L and 83bhp, 1.2L petrol engines. Transmission choices will include the 5-speed manual and AMT gearboxes.
